Mayor’s Message

Thank you to the 100 plus residents who came out to the Public Forum on Sewers. Jim Kelly of Boswell Engineering gave a technical overview of the possibilities for sewers in the downtown areas. More information will follow as the Council works toward making an informed decision on this issue.

For the second year in a row, rain has caused the postponing of the Town Fair. Unlike last year, however, we hope for sunny weather on this year’s rain date, Sunday, October 4th. I look forward to seeing everyone behind Borough Hall on Sunday from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm as we enjoy some great Franklin Lakes community spirit through the rides, games, food, organizational information and most importantly time spent with family, friends and neighbors.

Another important community event is coming up soon as well. On October 17th at McBride Field the FL Recreation Foundation will be holding its annual Oktoberfest. With many local and corporate sponsors and Special Guest, Dwight “Doc” Gooden, it looks like this will be the best Oktoberfest yet. Tickets are $150 per person, $100 for coaches, spouses and seniors. Please Contact Laurie Burnette, lburnette@optonline.net or Jeanne Patrican, jpatrican@aol.com for tickets or more information.

As always, if you would like to get involved in town by offering your time, talent or ideas, feel free to contact me at mayor@franklinlakes.org or call Nancy Yarish at 201-891-0048 x1204. Keeping Franklin Lakes an incredible town takes commitment and your help and support. New committees include Biking and Pedestrian Safety, New Jersey Mayors Wellness Campaign and a Taxpayer Advisory Committee.

Enjoy a wonderful weekend..
Maura
