Message from the Mayor
Franklin Lakes welcomed the first day of school this morning with lots of energy and excitement — and that was just from the parents! We look forward to a good year and one that will be a safe and happy experience for all of our town’s children.
On Sunday, September 13th the Franklin Lakes Memorial Pond Committee will hold an informal ceremony to mark the 8th anniversary of September 11th. The dedicated Pond committee is in the process of completing Phase II of the Pond Project which included the recently constructed “Bridge to Remember.” This bridge was built as an Eagle Project organized by Boy Scout Nathaniel Clark with the help and support of some extraordinary members of our community. The bridge will be blessed by Pastor Elliott Cooke of the Grace Community Church at 2 p.m. Please join us for this brief gathering as we remember the brave members of our community who were lost to terrorism at the World Trade Center and in Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie. We also want to recognize this continuing effort to enhance the Memorial Pond as a beautiful garden of reflection to be enjoyed by all members of the Franklin Lakes community.
The Memorial Pond is located behind the Municipal Building and off the walking path on the southside of the Municipal Fields.
Enjoy this beautiful week.
Maura
