Wives Week 2

The Housewives of Franklin Lakes, a.k.a. The Housewives of New Jersey, enter their second week of the season with some memorable and unmemorable moments. The promoted highlights cover Gia’s daughter taking an acting class and Dina hiring a personal assistant.

The sauciest piece is Danielle getting ready for a date with a younger man which was probably intended to raise plucked eyebrows. With cast members who grew up with Mrs.Robinson in The Graduate, a younger man and an older woman is not really a scandal anymore. See the original 1967 movie trailer in the accompanying video, and Bravo previews of the show below.

Meanwhile, Gia’s daughter partakes in an acting class to ready herself for an audition to star across from The Rock. Gia herself might need some lessons in becoming a professional stage mom. There’s no scenes of the child being beaten with a wire hanger, no screaming, and apparently no threats of losing mommy’s love. While many child actors have succeeded without these motivational tools, it seems a point of neglect not to provide every advantage possible.

The most amusing piece is probably a nod toward the lack of diversity in the cast. Viewers can watch as Dina Manzo interviews a potential personal assistant who is neither a female nor Italian. The cultural diversity is provided by a young candidate who appears to be a male leprechaun, or a member of some other fair skinned mythological species.
